Sylvia joined the Spring Fire Department as the Payroll and Benefits Administrator in 2017. She works hard and strives for excellence in everything she does. As a child, Sylvia thought she would be a NICU nurse and actually practiced nursing before earning her Certified Payroll Specialist designation through the National Bookkeeper Association.

In her spare time, Sylvia cheers for her favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, watches Nicholas Sparks movies and enjoys the company of her husband, Ricky, and their son. Although Galveston disappoints her, Sylvia loves the beach. She is not a trained musician, but Sylvia practices her air guitar regularly and will jam to any type of music except rap.
