Steve Schoonover joined the Fire Department in 1992 as a volunteer working at Station 72 as the video photographer and later served as the station Lieutenant over apparatus maintenance. During his tenure he has served as a Director on the Spring Volunteer Fire Association Board, Assistant Fire Marshal and Volunteer Senior Captain in the Fire Prevention and Education Division. In his current position of Quality Assurance Analyst he oversees the review process over Department incident reports.

 

Steve was a distinguished recipient of the Fire Chief’s Award in 2011 and 2021. He holds a Basic Fire Investigator certification with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and is a former Arson Investigator with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office. Steve is a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners where he was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Steve has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Sam Houston State University.
