Working Smoke Detectors Save Lives and Property
Too frequently, Spring firefighters respond to preventable fires. But there are also situations where everything goes right such as when our firefighters responded to the Villages of Spring Oaks on Thursday, July 5.
Residents there called 9-1-1 after hearing a smoke alarm.
The emergency in an upstairs bedroom was resolved in minutes thanks to the smoke alarm as well as the quick action of the residents and fire crews from Spring fire stations 70, 71 and 73.
This situation was a prime example of why Spring Fire District Chief Chris vonWiesenthal reminds residents to “make sure your smoke detectors are in working order.”
Check if your smoke detector is working and visit https://www.springfd.org/how-we-serve/resources/ for more information.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Harris County Fire Marshal’s office.
