Our future training field will be named after former Chief W.W. “Cotton” Weaver. Cotton has been involved in community service with both Spring Fire Department and Cypress Creek EMS for many years and as current HCESD#7 President Bob Schmanski said, “A fitting way to honor a man who has given so much to his community…”

Cotton was born in Mansfield, Ohio and attended Spring High School when it was located at Spring School Road and Aldine Westfield.  After High School Cotton spent 10 years working for Baker Hughes Tool Company.

He then went to work for Henkley’s Bakery where he met his future bride, Miss Barbara.  They were married when he was 19 and she was 15.  They had 4 children, who gave them 11 grand kids, 26 great grand kids, and 1 great great grand kid.  Barbara and Cotton celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary shortly before her passing on January 12, 2018.

Cotton has been a loyal member of Spring Lodge #1174 for 65 years and after college Cotton went to work for Cypress Creek EMS as an EMT where he spent 35 years.  And if that wasn’t enough, Cotton spent 12 years as the Assistant Chief and 12 years as Fire Chief of the Spring Volunteer Fire Department where he is a life member.  Cotton will celebrate his 86th birthday this May.
